Had a great day here. Learned lots. Beautiful. Presenters were friendly and knowlegable.
I drove out for the Landis Valley Harvest Days Festival. I was expecting the usual "farm" themed gathering, instead this was one of the best things I've ever stumbled across. Wow. The history of the Landis family was interesting. They loved the area so much, they ensured the land and buildings were turned into a museum to be preserved for future generations. There were dozens of people in period dress demonstrating weaving, blacksmithing, the 2-day process to make apple butter, molasses made from apple cider, beekeeping, quilting, the tape loom, chair caning, baking, pottery, woodcarving, making sauerkraut, flax processing and dyeing, candle making, tin smithing - and my favorite: broom making. I'll never look at a straw broom the same way! It was a great way to spend a Sunday!
Great place to take kids. Their tour staff is amazing, very knowledgeable and engaging. They have a great little scavenger hunt for hunger kids to keep their interest. Very interesting and educational.
We love it here. We always make it a point to stop in while in the area. We recommend this to everyone
Great step back in time. We have lost much traditional wisdom in our comfortable society, but Landis Valley preserves it! Great job, you guys.
