Was treated kindly by all staff, but my tax preparer made a huge mistake. I went in to get my return done, I paid my 70 dollar fee, got my receipt, and went home. Four weeks later I had no refund, so I called the IRS and they said it had already been sent. I called kimber tax, and they said that my submission had been rejected the DAY THAT I WAS THERE (oooops). I later tried to talk to a supervisor and left several messages but they never called back. Turns out I was a victim of TAX IDENTITY THEFT. How they somehow missed that my taxes had been previously filed, and rejected WHILE I WAS SITTING THERE boggles my mind still. Got a hold of Mr. Kimber via email 6 weeks after my original appointment (since the company had now closed its doors for the summer), but he was not able to provide any refund, an APOLOGY, or helpful information. The IRS representative that is helping me with my case said that those four weeks would have been valuable time for an investigation, thanks to Kimber tax dropping the ball on notifying me promptly the investigation ended up taking much longer than the typical 180 days it takes. I still have not received the refund that I was expecting from my 2013 tax return. It is now February 2015. Thanks to trying to save a buck (instead of going with a bigger, more reputable company) I wasted 70 dollars for getting my taxes prepared there, and this doesn't include the charges incurred while trying to recover and protect my identity. Stay away, go to Mangold's tax on Columbia avenue instead.
Do not go here. First time filing as an independent contractor I went in with very little knowledge, they filed income that wasn't even for the tax year, would noy help answer my questions, and didn't give any proof that they actually filed my taxes. Save yourself the mess.
This was my second year with Kimber Tax. Did not have an issue last year, but this year I received a letter from the IRS saying the my form 1065 for Business Tax was filed late. I called the IRS and they told me that this year they changed the date for this form (1065) to be filed on 3/15/17. I asked has this always been this way and they told me, no this was the first year. I went to Kimber Tax and asked them if they knew about this and Tim told me that this form has always been filed a month before the April due date. I then said to him that I specifically spoke with someone from the IRS and they told me that this was the first year for this change. I then went on to say to Tim, don't you think it would have been nice if someone would have told me that I might be penalized for filing business tax late? His response was it's not my job to notify you, I just take the taxes and do them. I was very upset, because he lied to me and showed no remorse for negligent services. Please do not go to them, they are only worried about taking your money!
Do not EVER entrust your business taxes to Tim Reed. He incorporated my business without closing the original entity. Over the last 2 years I have been hit with countless fines ($20,000 and rolling) for not filing taxes on a business that no longer existed, he also had all my NEW corporate paperwork addressed to his office, so when he didn't bother to do the job he was hired to do, no notices were sent to my office. He never bothered to file my state taxes and has now cost me another $8538.29 in cleaning up back taxes and a LEIN on my business. One could argue that I should have known better, but that's what we hired HIM for. We hired Walz Group to clean up his mess and they were actually cheaper than him, and far more qualified and HONEST. When confronted blamed everything on his secretary. Seriously reckless and incompetent.. don't even think of entertaining this guy as your business accountant.
